Thanks for all of your comments! I'm glad you all are enjoying my photos :) My host mother is really into photography and she is taking a class through my university. I got to go with her one day and it was awesome. My madre here loves getting invloved in activities around town. She belongs to a book club, cooking club, and is taking a photography class! One thing I have noticed is that adults here are very active and invloved in the community. My university offers loads of classes for senior citizens as well. Today I went with my madre to sign up for a film club. We're going to see a movie this Wednesday and afterwards we get together at a café to talk about it. Here is the trailer for the movie... its called "La Voz dormida" and is based on a novel about the Spanish Civil War. I'm really excited! Can you think of ways to get involved in the community in Portland? Are you already involved?

That movie looks very scary. It scared me watching just the trailer. The music was a good side affect but also creepy. That type of music always scares me. But it seems like an interesting movie that maybe some day I would go see.

ReplyDeleteIts me again, Lili! I dont do alot of extracurricular activities, but I do enjoy volunteering. Sometimes my friends Allie and Erin volunteer at group places. Over the summer we volunteered at our school twice. Once for making packets to send to all the students, and another time during orientation. At orientation, we showed all the new kids where their clesses are and showed them how to open lockers. It was really fun! Also, this weekend Allie, Erin and I are going to a group about being a femiist, since we all are.

ReplyDeleteI wish I could be as involved as you Madre! It sounds like she enjoys every second of her life. "La Voz dormida" looks like a really interesting film and I hope to see it sometime. I don't do as many things as your Madre, but I do take piano lessons here in Portland.

My sister also loves photography and she is also a very good artist. The trailer for the movie looks very good and i want to read the book then go see the movie. ReplyDeleteI can get involved in my community by helping out in my neighborhood, doing favors and participating in block parties and other activities. I can also get involved by joining clubs at my school. Right now I'm not really involved in my community.
